WinX Free iPhone Video Converter is a video converter for Apple devices. It converts files in most popular video formats into the formats that are supported by three Apple products: iPhone, iPod (5G, Nano, Touch), and Apple TV. It supports batch-mode conversion, so you can add any number of videos and they will be converted one after another.
The layout of the application is very familiar. At the top there are a few buttons that you can use to add videos to the interface. At the bottom of the program, there are four tabs that specify the format you want to convert the files to; one for each of the three supported devices and another one for video to audio conversion, which allows you to rip the audio from a video clip. There are instructions on the screen on how to start the conversion process, but there is also a lot of text advertising for other products from the same developer. And it is quite annoying.
For each of the devices there are several conversion profiles. I like that the profiles just make sense. The resolutions and video quality (compression, etc.) are all within the expected parameters for each device, unlike some converters that offer 1080p profiles for an iPhone. There are even some with widescreen options.
Conversion speed is on par with most other solutions I tried. But ultimately, your computer specs will determine the speed of conversion.
- Good selection of profiles
- Automatic shut-down of computer when done
- Bloated interface
- No drag-and-drop
